In the spring of 2018, The Old Millbrook School EarlyON Child and Family Centre went through a transformation.  We began offering more programs and services to families in the community and beyond in ways that we hope have been responsive to your unique needs as a family. Continual efforts to build trusting relationships with families and the community we are part of have allowed us to learn what families enjoyed about the Child and Family Centre and where there was room for us to grow and set goals.

We wanted to share what goals we will be focusing on for 2020.

Cultural Diversity and Inclusivity; We will continue our work to ensure all families feel like they are represented in our programs and the materials we utilize to create a welcoming quality learning environment.  Our programs are for everyone to enjoy and we want to decrease barriers and increase opportunities for children and families to thrive.

Outdoor Experiences and Play; We have a passion for outdoor play and recognize the immense benefits of it to child development.  To quote Richard Louv from his book, “Last Child in the Woods”, We have such a brief opportunity to pass on to our children our love for this Earth, and to tell our stories. These are the moments when the world is made whole. In my children's memories, the adventures we've had together in nature will always exist.”

Continuing our Self-Reg Journey; Self-Reg is an ongoing journey that we are excited to be on and are looking forward to continuing to offer opportunities for more learning for all of us.  “There is no such thing as a bad child”, Dr. Stuart Shanker.  We will continue to work together to start or to continue to ask, “Why?” and “Why now?”

Thank you for working with The Old Millbrook School EarlyON Child and Family Centre Educator Team to create quality programs.

If you have any questions at all, please let us know. We always appreciate your feedback and insight.

Keeping our Families Informed.

We have had some families ask, "How old do caregivers need to be when they bring children to the Child and Family Centre?"

Our policy that a caregiver needs to be at least sixteen years of age when bringing children into the Child and Family Centre.

However, younger caregivers are always welcome to play with the children in their care at the outdoor mud kitchen when they are enjoying the park and property at The Old Millbrook School.
