Update as of Saturday March 14th.
As you are aware, the Community Response to COVID-19 has been proactive, thoughtful and intentional.
Our number one priority as we mentioned yesterday is the health and safety of our participants, our staff and the greater community.
It is with keeping that priority in mind that our Organization’s Board of Directors voted yesterday to close all of our programs effective immediately until Monday April 6th.
At that time we will reevaluate any new information, community responses and the directions our Municipal Funders and The Province are providing us with.
Research strongly supports social distancing as an effective strategy to flatten the curve of new occurrences of any outbreak. This was at the forefront of our minds when making such an important decision.
We thank you for your patience and support as we navigate through the next couple of weeks.
If you have any questions, please email Nancy Hurley at omsfc@nexicom.net.
Any questions or need for further information related to COVID-19 can be directed to Peterborough Public Health.
Thank you.

Update for
March 13, 2020.
The health
and safety of our Participants, Staff and Community are always a top priority for
us as an Organization. We would like to
provide you with some updates around our programs in relation to the COVID-19
outbreak.
As of
Friday March 13, 2020, our EarlyON Child and Family Centre Stay and Play
programs will continue to be open and operational during our regularly scheduled
hours. This decision aligns with what
our Municipal Funders and The Province is communicating to us.
The
following is a comprehensive list of the actions we are taking within our
programs:
Signage has
been posted to remind families to self-screen each person young and older in
their group prior to entering the program rooms to ensure they are in good
health.
Staff will
be staying home if they become ill.
All
participants will be screened by staff upon arrival as well to ensure everyone
visiting is in good health. Following
Organizational Policy and the directives we have been given by our Municipal
Leads, participants who disclose symptoms to poor health or who are observed by
staff to be in poor health will be asked to leave and head home to prevent the
spread of illness and be welcomed back when everyone is healthy once again.
We have
increased the frequency the Program Rooms are professionally cleaned.
We are wiping
down surfaces and handles frequently throughout the day.
The toys in
the infant area are being cleaned daily.
All other toys and materials are being cleaned more frequently as
well.
Public
Health issued hand washing signs are posted at all sinks.
All participants
are asked to wash their hands following the steps outlined in the signage upon immediate
arrival to the Programs.
For the
time being, we have closed our kitchen and will not be offering a daily snack,
tea or coffee.
Participants
are respectfully asked to refrain from bringing in food from outside the
program to be consumed in the Child and Family Centre.
Participants
are welcomed to bring in their own reusable bottle filled with water.
We are
taking a pause from accepting any food donations.
All programs
that are connected to food preparation will be paused for the time being.
The “Cooking
Together, Eating Together” event that was scheduled for Wednesday March 18th
has been canceled.
“Cooking with
Kids” which was scheduled for Wednesday April 1st has been canceled.
Music and Movement
will NOT be taking place at Centennial Place, it has been moved to The Dorothy
Stevens Rooms at The Old School for the next four weeks minimum.
Parent book
lending will pause for the next month at minimum.
We are
encouraging as much outdoor play as possible when visiting.
We value
all participants and believe that we can all work together to stop the spread
of germs.
If you have
any questions at all about the above policies, please email Nancy Hurley at omsfc@nexicom.net.
If you have
any questions or need more information specifically related to COVID-19, please
contact Peterborough Public Health.
Thank you.
