Thank you to The Millbrook and District Lions Club

We would like to express our gratitude to The Millbrook and District Lions Club for their donation of $1000 to The Old Millbrook School Family Centre Inc.  This donation is a huge help towards reaching our $5000 mandatory annual fundraising goal.

Keeping our Families Informed.

We have had some families ask, "How old do caregivers need to be when they bring children to the Child and Family Centre?"

Our policy that a caregiver needs to be at least sixteen years of age when bringing children into the Child and Family Centre.

However, younger caregivers are always welcome to play with the children in their care at the outdoor mud kitchen when they are enjoying the park and property at The Old Millbrook School.

Let's Try this Again, Kid's Clothing Swap Fundraiser

The weather didn't cooperate with us for our first swap so we going to try again.

Sunday April 28th from 9:30am - 12:00pm.
The Old Millbrook School EarlyON Child and Family Centre
1 Dufferin Street, Millbrook

If you still have tickets because you could not come to the first event, they will be valid for this event.

How the Swap Will Be Run:
• Families are asked to drop off gently used, undamaged children’s clothing sizes 0-14 they want swapped to The Child and Family Centre between Tuesday April 16th and Thursday April 25th during Program Hours.
**Please help us by sorting the clothes by size ahead of time if at all possible **
• One Ticket will be given per item of clothing upon drop off.
• Families will bring their tickets to the swap to be used to “purchase new to them” clothing items. We will do our best but cannot guarantee that all tickets will be able to be used.
• $10 per family upon entry into the event (All funds will directly to The Old Millbrook School Family Centre).
• Want to participate but don’t have any clothing to “swap”? You’re still invited and will be able to purchase clothing items at the event for
$2 each firm.
• Are you wanting to purge some closets but don’t want to come to the swap? We still need those clothes so we can offer options to as many people as possible. Please consider donating those clothing items to our event.
All remaining clothing will be donated to local Family Shelters.

Children Doing More with Less; How Opened Ended Materials Can Support Development in the Early Years

As part of our ongoing commitment to offering families high quality early learning opportunities and, in response to your feedback given in the Parent Survey around Early Learning Topics of Interest, we will be offering a morning of exploration for parents and caregivers with Angela Hoar.

This session will offer opportunities to engage with loose parts and explore together:

• Why is it that children seem to do more with less?

• What rich open-ended materials for this play are we overlooking that might be readily available in our homes?

• Why and how learning through play, in an environment rich in open-ended materials, enhances children’s learning?

Where: The Old Millbrook School EarlyON Child and Family Centre
1 Dufferin Street, Millbrook, in the lower level of the
building

When: Sunday January 20th, 10:30am – 12:30pm

Please call 705-932-7088 or email omsfc@nexicom.net to register or for more information.
