A word from Nancy, OMSFC's Centre Administrator!

The OMSFC Board is pleased to welcome our new Centre Administrator, Nancy Hurley.  Some of you may have already met Nancy at Stay n' Play, and we're looking forward to all of the enthusiasm Nancy is bringing to this new role!  Here's a bit about Nancy, in her own words:

Nancy Hurley, OMSFC's Centre Administrator

Let me introduce myself, my name is Nancy Hurley and I am very excited to be starting a new adventure here at the Old Millbrook School EarlyON Centre.  Over the next months, I am sure I will be meeting so many of you as you visit the Centre with your children, grandchildren, etc.  Before you stop in, maybe you're wondering about who I am?

I was born and raised in Hamilton, Ontario where I worked for over seventeen years in the Early Learning and Care Community up until this past December.  I moved up this way six years ago and I love the area.  My family and I live within an hour of Millbrook with our two dogs and the dogs that we foster through a local Animal Rescue Organization.  I am passionate about the Early Years and I truly believe in the value in our youngest citizens.

Millbrook is a wonderful community and I am looking forward to getting to know the people who make it so special.  It is an exciting time at the Centre!   In the coming months, the EarlyOn Centre will be growing veggies in the Community Garden, expanding program hours to offer families a place to stop in on Sundays, and Picnics in the Park from time to time.
Come by any time and you will be met with a smile.  I can't wait to see you!

Warmly.
Nancy Hurley
Centre Administrator

Thank you Moyra!

We loved this article in the Millbrook Times about the amazing Moyra, the backbone of the Family Centre for the past 15 years!

Moyra has been a pillar in the lives of our Township's smallest residents, and their caregivers, for 15 years.  From offering wisdom, insight, advice, or just a shoulder to cry on and a hug, Moyra has made a positive difference in hundreds of local lives.  Thank you Moyra!!

What's New at the Family Centre? Lots!!

The Old Millbrook School Family Centre (OMSFC) has been buzzing with excitement for the last several months, since learning that we have secured funding under the new EarlyON programming. This funding, that is redirected to us through the City of Peterborough, has put our Family Centre in a position of offering more services for our community.
While the OMSFC Board of Directors is still sorting through all of the changes and establishing what our future will look like exactly, our community should know that there will be a significant increase in the number of free services we provide in our village, and the frequency of these programs.
For the last 17 years OMSFC has offered a drop in, Stay n Play program from our centre, every Tuesday and Thursday from 9:30am-1:00 pm. Those programs will remain moving forward and in the very near future, OMSFC will announce the addition of programming every Sunday.  This program is envisioned to be similar in structure to our current programming, and will hopefully make our services more accessible to local families.
Under the obligation of our new funding OMSFC is required to offer programming five days per week. The Board of Directors is enthusiastically working towards meeting that requirement, armed with the knowledge that we can serve our youngest community members in ways never imagined.
The physical space that OMSFC occupies at 1 Dufferin St. will be undergoing some updating and improving as well. During these changes and improvements, the centre will be open and operating our regular programming. If you wish to stay current on the changes to our space and programming, please feel free to join us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/millbrookfamilycentre/.
