It's the most wonderful time of the year...!

We've had a bit of snow, and, the festive season is definitely in the air!  As with past years, the Family Centre holds one of its major fundraising efforts at this time of year.  The 'Win your Christmas Baking' raffle is a popular (and extremely yummy!) way to help us reach our funding targets.  We rely on the support of our families and volunteers who sell (and buy!) tickets, and donate the baked goods. You can sign up to volunteer to sell tickets or donate baking at the Family Centre.  Your generosity is so appreciated!  The Family Centre has a dedicated group of volunteers that need to raise between $5000 and $7000 each year, and it can be a struggle!  We rely on community support for every penny!  Please consider taking part in this raffle!

We'll also see you at one of the most magical nights of the year - Millbrook's Old Tyme Christmas - on Thursday December 3rd.  We'll be on the main street with a festive craft for children, and also will be selling raffle tickets!  See you there!

We need volunteers to sell tickets on Saturday November 28th outside of Millbrook Foodland, at Old Tyme Christmas on Thurs. Dec. 3rd, and, during the Santa Claus parade on Sat. Dec. 5th.  Please visit us on Facebook and send us a message if you can help!

Thank you!

Thank you SO much to the lovely folks who came out on Saturday night to support the Family Centre at our Oktoberfest event. Thanks especially toRelic's Boat for their amazing music and enthusiasm (seriously, they brought a Tuba!). Thanks too to the wonderful businesses in our community who donated silent auction items. Also, thanks to Kirk H., who won the 50/50 draw and then donated his winnings back to us! And finally thanks to the many volunteers who cooked sausages, decorated, sold tickets, and worked at the event - your help was so greatly appreciated!  We raised over $1,400 an could not have done it without your support! Thank you!

Oktoberfest is almost here!

Roll out the barrel, and we'll have a barrel of fun! Join us at the Millbrook Legion starting at 7pm on Saturday October 3rd for our 2nd annual Oktoberfest.

Pretzels, polkas, pints (sorry kids, this event is only for grown-ups!) and more!  Live music will be provided by Relic's Boat.

Tickets are $15 each or in advance for 2 for 25$.  If there are any tickets left over, they will also be available at the door.  Pick up your tickets at: The Old Millbrook School Family Centre, The Quilter's Bolt/ Anchor & Company, OR, at the Millbrook Zucchini Festival on Sunday September 13th (from 12:30 'til 4:00, next to Needler's Mill).

Last year we sold out, and it proved to be our most successful fundraising event of the year!  Please do come out and support us, and if possible, consider donating a silent auction item.

Thanks to the Millbrook Legion for their support, and to the other kind local businesses who have donated items!

Earth Day at the Old School!

Did you know that Millbrook has an Earth Day event each April to celebrate the environment?  A small extremely commited group of volunteers has been planning earth-friendly festivities in our lovely village for years (decades?!).  Past activities at these family-friendly events have included canoe rides on Baxter creek, tree planting, scavenger hunts, guided hikes, singing, eating and much more.

Please join us on Sunday April 26th at the Old Millbrook School for the 2015 Earth Day celebration which will include:

12-12:30: Nature photography workshop for kids

12:30:  Medd's Mountain hike on the gorgeous Millbrook Valley Trails, led by Millbrook Time's nature columnist Glen Spurrell

1:30:  Planting a children's Earth Day garden

2:00 pm:  Earth day cupcakes

This will also be the location and the place to collect your new and environmentally friendly rain barrel!  Please note that rain barrels must be ordered in advance!  You can order your barrel here at www.rainbarrel.ca/millbrook and proceeds will benefit the Family Centre!
